The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a mission to provide children from low-income communities with a high-quality education, enabling them to maximize their potential and transform their lives. Akanksha works in the field of education, initiating school reform through The School Project, and providing a supplemental education through the Akanksha centers.
Currently, Akanksha reaches out to over 6500 children through two models: the after-school or center model and the School Project. Akanksha has 3 centers and 21 schools in Mumbai and Pune.
Rakesh Suresh Ghone graduated in a Masters in Social Work , he has worked in the field of social work for fifteen years. He completed his fellowship in Pukar organization, specializing in youth perspectives. Rakesh has been working for the Akanksha Foundation for the last ten years. A senior manager in the field of social work, Rakesh has worked with parents, children with special needs and communities. He has worked all over Mumbai, in total supervising over 9 schools and 11 communities.
Rakesh graduated from the Ummeed Community Mental Health Training program in 2015 and has been incorporating Narrative ideas and practices in his work. Rakesh will be sharing his journey and work in A Room Full Stories India’s first international Narrative conference.
