“Exploring narrative ideas in pediatric work and navigating between being the expert and collaborating with the expert family”.

Speaker Bio

 

Dr. Vibha Krishnamurthy founded Ummeed in 2001 to fill the unaddressed gap in services available for children with developmental disabilities in India. Dr. Vibha is also a great proponent of Family Centred Care, a philosophy which runs through all of Ummeed’s work, which has helped in building an ecosystem for the development of children with disabilities. Her expertise in the field of developmental disabilities has seen her as an influencer and contributor through multiple fora, examples being, (i) Committee Member of the Disability Chapter of the World Health Organization, (ii) Member of the Task Force Constituted by Ministry of Human Resource & Development and (iii) Core Member/ Independent Expert on the Technical Resource Group, of “The Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram” (translated as National Child Health Program) constituted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India. In 2016 Vibha is looking to take Ummeed’s reach forward by exploring advocacy and research. Vibha completed the Mental Health Training Program (batch of 2015) and uses Narrative ideas in her medical practice.

 
Dr Bela Doctor is a Pediatrician who has trained at KEM Hospital and Sion Hospital. Then went to the UK and trained in neonatology. Since 1997 she has been working in Mumbai and has special interests in the holistic care of children with focus on their development and mental wellbeing. She recently did the one-year mental health therapy course.  Currently she is attached to the SRCC children’s hospital, Saifee hospital and Bhatia hospital. She has her own clinic at Sukhsagar.  She has a degree in M. D., MRCP, DCH
